I don’t know about you but I found 2016 to be less than optimal. Even though there were many amazing moments, experiences, lessons, opportunities, marriages, births, fun, laughter, and great memories… there was also a lot of death, annoyances, frustrations, and stupid s**t. I’ve had what feels like hundreds of conversations with fellow female entrepreneurs and everyone seems to feel this way, they are over 2016 and that 2017 will be amazing. I will admit that I’m biased because I love the start of a new year and the reset button that January 1 brings. I look forward to implementing the new goals I created and seeking new inspiration and new opportunities with a fire in my soul.
Every quarter I host a small group of Passionistas at my home for in-depth business discussions and where we hold one another accountable for the goals that we are trying to achieve. This quarters meeting was dedicated to our 2017 goals and what we needed to let go of in 2016 to prepare and receive what we wanted in the new year. It was an AH-MAZING meeting, I think even my favorite in the 2 years that I’ve been hosting these meetings. We felt so inspired that I knew I wanted to reach out to more female entrepreneurs and pose the same questions to them, and share those answers with you…
In 2016, I want to leave behind all of the doubts and regrets I have from missed opportunities. I have to let go of the idea that everything on the to-do list will be accomplished right now. My goal for 2017 is attend more events and conferences so I’m not such an online socialite. I want to have more in-person experiences with talented individuals and it’s not just about work.

In 2016, I want to leave fear of failure, complacency and doubting spirit behind. In 2017, I want to embrace change by pressing through the fears, do more networking to expand my circle and be open to new challenges, i.e. sky diving and traveling to new places.

In 2016, I want to leave procrastination behind- and start to tackle large projects early on; I will not miss great opportunities due to lack of preparation. In 2017, I want to hone in and develop on at least 2 new skills (areas of weakness) that will help me become a stronger entrepreneur.
Marva Babel, Owner, Ode to Babel
In 2016, I want to leave behind everything that’s in the rear view mirror. I will enjoy the journey of entrepreneurship so much more if I just keep my eyes on the road ahead and enjoy the beautiful, new and ever-changing scenery around me. I don’t know exactly what I will see and experience on the ride, but I know for sure I am headed in the right direction and that’s what makes the journey exciting! My goal for 2017 is to put myself and my business out there even more, stepping out of the vehicle to introduce myself as much as possible, letting others know about my business and how I can be of help to them – from clients to collaborators, my suitcases are packed and I have so much to share – “Head to Toe, Start to Finish!”
Oniki Cole, Founder & Creative Director, Oh Niki Occasions, LLC

In 2016, I want to leave behind worry, doubt, and allowing other peoples issues to become my own i.e. keep your drama to yourself. My goal for 2017 is peace of mind, endless curiosity, more reading, more travel, and more black girl magic.
