Since the holidays are upon us, this should be a time of celebration, happiness, and fun. However as business owners we are likely trying to manage all of that and continue our hustle, grind, and money flow. And we all know we have those people in our lives who seem to know how to “help” us but have yet to discover that they are just annoying the sh*t out of us. So consider this my gift to you if you decide to be petty and forward this to them…
- Tell them how such and such has x amount of followers on Instagram and how you can build yours. Why do people think that comparing you to someone that they don’t know is helpful or even applicable? And if they were so knowledgable, wouldn’t their own follower count exceed yours? There’s a huge difference between sharing tips you use or just read about, versus comparing one person to another.
- Tell them how they can do things better. How can you tell someone to do things better if you don’t even know how they are doing things in the first place? And please know that when you do say those types of things, 9 times out of 1o we’re thinking “you don’t have your own shit together or even own a business.” No shade, but normally true. If you see room for improvement in someone else’s business, ask the question before making assumptions.
- Tell them what their purpose is. How would someone who is not God know your purpose? It’s not their path, it’s yours! Don’t mistake someone trying to help you narrow down your purpose through the chaos of life, with someone who is trying to live your life.
- Tell them that you’ll meet them at a certain time and be late or cancel, all the time. Time is the one thing we can’t get back. No one’s time is more important than someone else’s. Say you are running late in advance and not when you’re already supposed to be there. Its simple respect. And when you are known for canceling at the last minute, don’t be mad when people stop choosing to make plans with you.
