I cannot believe that the small Facebook group I started grew into something so much bigger. I was initially only searching for an outlet, a place to feel inspired, empowered, and relate to other amazing women who were on my same entrepreneurial journey. It’s funny how your dreams, plans, and goals can evolve in unexpected ways.
I wish I could say that the road to launching the Passionistas organization and the website was a smooth road. But let’s be honest, that’s never how things happen. The road was mountainous, there were moments of great stress, frustration, lack of sleep, and a few sketchy characters. But the road was also full of laughter, hope, lessons, learning, cocktails, amazing women, bigger dreams, bigger plans, and bigger goals. I don’t think I fully understood nor appreciated what Passionistas could be and how it inspired other women until the first large event, Here’s Her Story, in February 2015. That event had an amazing group of speakers with so many gems and such great feedback from the attendees. That event helped propel my vision just from sheer inspiration and the knowledge that the road less traveled is only less traveled because that road is hard, and so many people aren’t willing to make the sacrifice or deal with the hurdles. But the hurdles were worth every jump, watching the Passionistas vision and mission organically evolve to what you see now is extremely gratifying. This website is a lifestyle destination of not only content from an amazing group of women, but the signature events that have provided intimate networking opportunities and have become the foundation for long term relationships between so many dynamic women…and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
I say all of this to say to only do the things that you are passionate about, and then think bigger and allow your vision to grow and evolve. Dr. Myles Munroe said that “God has put a gift or talent in every person that the world will make room for. It is this gift that will enable you to fulfill your vision. It will make a way for you in life.” I believe in living a passionate existence and only doing the things that make me happy, this is easier said than done at times because life is not so simple but that doesn’t stop me from trying. And when I have those moments where I want to scream, feel insecure, and question my path, I call on my support system. Those people in my life that act as my cheerleaders, my voices of reason, those who I want to not only confide in but those who I want to celebrate my accomplishments with. Consider the Passionistas your secondary support system where you can come to not only be empowered in business, but be empowered in life.
