When I went on my apartment search, I knew that I specifically wanted to find a bright, sunny industrial loft. Well, as the saying goes, “Seek and ye shall find!” I found exactly what I wanted on the waterfront facing The City of Brotherly Love aka Philly! In a loft, I did expect the crazy high ceilings and the exposed piping and structural beams found in an industrial space, but I never quite counted on a large column in my kitchen. It was odd enough to have us consider another apartment, but not bothersome enough to make me reconsider how much I loved this one. So I simply had to come up with a solution for it.
How does one solve the ‘Huge Column in the Middle of the Room’ Conundrum? I turned it into a chalkboard! It has become the place where my little family does graffiti art (or something like it), write inspiration words of wisdom, post our calendar of activities, and other sweet nothings. It’s a fun and functional platform that we all enjoy using.
