You ever watch a movie for the first time and be caught by surprise at the ending because you don’t know what to expect? However, when you watch the same movie a second time things that you didn’t notice in the beginning are just jumping out at you, and you’re like “Wow!” how’d I miss that the first time? Has that ever happened to you? Growing up, I was very familiar with The Musical The Wiz. As a child, I enjoyed the costumes, bright colors, the different scenes and the main characters. At various points in my life it seems that whatever I may be experiencing in my life at the time while watching The Wiz, I can strongly relate to one particular character more than the others. The Wiz is one of a few musicals that I can watch over and over again with the same excitement as if it were my first time. I absolutely love it!
2015 was such a journey for me; I kept looking for exterior things to fulfill me and define who I was. I realize that everything that I experience in life is leading me to a sense of awareness of the power I possess. Just like Dorothy, whose journey was on a yellow brick road in dark and scary woods with some strangers, we are all on a journey to discover who we really are and what powers we ALREADY have. Everything that we desire is directly attached to what was placed in us before we were even born. Isn’t that amazing? Yes, It’s truly amazing to know with confidence that everything I need to BE the best ME has been strategically placed in me. For me to gain access my inner power it’s inevitable that I travel down some scary roads, meet new people and help others discover their internal powers as well.
I appreciate everything that I endured in 2015 because it has prepared me and ushered me into 2016. I encourage you to no harp on the past as we enter into a New Year but embrace it; thank your past for all the lessons learned and for preparing you for your Brand New Day! Your 2016 theme song may not be the same as mine but no matter what, find your song! (Make sure your theme song for 2016 is positive and makes you feel good listening/dancing to it!) Dance to your song, play it loud in the car, download it to your iPod or smartphone, listen to your song, at least, three times a day. If it isn’t already, make good, positive, powerful, soothing music be a part of your 2016.

My favorite song from The Wiz is “A Brand New Day“. I promise you I danced to this song as the new year came in. I invite you to listen intently to the lyrics this time around and declare that now is you Brand New Day!!!
