Whenever you start anything, you are filled with so much energy and promise. You rise early because you just know what you have to offer is going to change the world(s) you influence. And on the flipside of starting, some of us refuse to begin because of fear, lack of support, or the infamous, “I’m not this or that” speech we give to ourselves. … And let us not forget the, “I don’t have this or that” speech. “That coach costs too much!” … “Maybe I’ll wait a couple more months until I know exactly what it is I’m doing”. All these thoughts seem valid and because of the realistic nature and validity of this reasoning, we can end up talking ourselves out of ever making a true first step. If you ever want a life you never had, never ask yourself, “What do I have to lose?” Because honestly … you will lose a lot. The real question is, “Do I still want it after all the losses?”
… entrepreneurship is the realest journey you can take.
Entrepreneurship, or as I prefer to call it, influential leadership, can look so glamorous. You answer to yourself for yourself… your time is free and you are ready to create your own lane. Then the bomb drops and reality sets in and you realize, “MAN!!! This is not what I imagined”. Successful entrepreneurship is a lot of work physically and emotionally to see sustainable profits and make genuine connections. You will find that the social media numbers and what you can do for people drives a large majority. So here you are with a dream and a big ocean between you and the shore. Do you dive in or do you wait for a boat? In most cases that boat is not going to come until you are ready for it. And in almost all cases, you will have to swim a distance before that help comes. And just because help comes it does not mean peaceful waters. It could very well mean rough shores ahead. But if after all this reality you say, I’m willing to do what it takes to get to the other side, then this article is for you.
Your vision is about you first. Although you are thinking “hey, what about my audience?” Yeah yeah I know people told you that it’s not about you it’s your audience, and technically they are right but in value they are wrong. You are the most valuable commodity about your business. And if you do not work on you, your audience will never be drawn to you even with all your marketing. Genuine-ness sells. Having a lack of a connection to you will show negatively at some point. Even if you have to affirm yourself daily by saying, “It’s ok to be me!” do it and make it count.
The real question is, “Do I still want it after all the losses?”
What have I learned? Oh, I thought it was obvious by now… entrepreneurship is the realest journey you can take. Although when you start, the goal is to have a better life. And for most of us that includes money. But as you walk down the paths of uncharted territory, you will realize the journey is about you. What do I mean? Your audience does not magically appear and neither do the opportunities. They are already there. The catch is they are waiting on you to learn, grow, and evolve to be what they need for that time and moment. You are not really creating anything, you are developing a greater you. See, what is yours is yours. And no one can take that away. But you can forfeit it by choosing to stay the same you that began this journey. As they say, you were made for this. What you need is already inside you but you have to chisel at it, cultivate it, nurture it, water it, protect it, make it shine in the darkest places, you have to become that city on a hill. Positioned where they cannot deny you, you are there and you have what they need. So ask yourself, how much value do I add to myself daily? What am I doing to become what my future needs? When you realize that it starts and ends with you, you will take that walk alone without fear knowing that you will make it to the peaceful shore.
So, what are you going to do today to get the future that you want? Let me know below.
