So you’ve officially registered your company, made headway on what content you plan to include on your website, have your business cards printed and told your closest friends & family members all about your business plan. The beginning days of entrepreneurship are some of the best days! You are high on energy and plans – your ideas flow as if they are given to you from the universe and there is no short of excitement every single day of your planning stages. However, like any new love, the beginning stages of your company create a euphoria that has yet to realize the realities of the full process ahead. Not to mention, in this time of social media, it seems that you and your loved ones should be on a yacht – carefree with plenty of money to spend at the exact moment you decide to become an entrepreneur. With all the stories of “instant” fame, you begin to wonder (very quickly I might add) – Where is your audience? Where are these customers that were automatically coming as soon as you did everything you were supposed to do?
From my own experience, self-doubt, worry, and concern about having your company be successful (on your own terms), seem to be part of the process. The real, REAL reality of being an entrepreneur is that once you jump, there’s a lot of uncertainty that lies at your doorstep. In that case, you’re going to need to constantly remind yourself exactly why you decided to become an entrepreneur in the 1st place. In other words, what is your reason? I’ve been told and truly believe that there are no mistakes. That means, there is a reason you decided to embark on some “thing” that has an outcome to be determined only by walking confidently in that path. I suggest that you ask yourself what your reason is every time you feel tired, every time you want to give up, every time you feel defeated. You may not realize it, but this too is part of the process and you are the only one who can pursue it to the other side, where greatness lies. You are here for a reason; This gift, this passion, this reason has been inside you waiting for your inner self to bring it into fruition. That means that only you can finish it! If you think about how hard it was for you to start, it shouldn’t be so easy to quit.
Every single thing that we look at, touch, experience on a daily basis was someone’s idea. If that’s the case, then why wouldn’t your idea be viable? Why couldn’t your plan work? Why wouldn’t it be you to develop that “thing” someone else looks at, touches and/or experiences on a daily basis? If you really sit and think about it, everyone who ever created anything started the process of creation the exact same way – at some point and time, someone thought they could do more, be more, and offer more than they were previously offering to the world. Isn’t that you? Why NOT you?!
A mindset of defeat only equals a lifetime of defeating circumstances. I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy, but I’m fairly certain that anything you’ve ever received in life (that was worth anything) never came to pass via a handout. If being an entrepreneur was really and truly “easy”, everybody would do it! It takes a lot of guts, a lot of God and a lot of faith to go out into the world and let it know “I’m here, and I have this GREAT idea!” Know that you are part of an elite class – one that will take every bit of what you have to give in order to make it work. You must proceed so hard that the universe has no other option but to give way to your success. Keep pushing, remember why you started, and carry on.
