Hello, my name is Kimberly Ward, and I am your new mental health contributor. I wish I could change the label to “How to Deal with the Little Things That Get on Your Nerves Everyday That Derails You from Your Purpose and Makes You Want to Stab Folks,” but Mental Health fit on the tab better.
I do hold a degree in Psychology, but it is life that has made me an expert. A guru if you will, in turning the other cheek, letting go of the small stuff and saying “Bye Felicia” when needed. I am an entrepreneur. I own several small businesses. My oldest, Kimberly and Cameron Interiors turns 15 next year. I became a blogger in 2008, but only a good one about a few months ago.
I believe in people. I love nothing more than a person with a creative idea. I’d like to say that I’m a girl’s girl, but I have enough reasons/ haters to not cloke myself in that illusion. It’s an odd dynamic really. I have six best friends. These true ride or die chicks are an electric mix of awesomeness. They love me for me and aren’t competing with me.
I’m glad that we are sharing this space together. I am in the process of growing a new business, so it will be good to share the lessons that will surely come.
If there’s one thing I live by, it’s the notion that the best is yet to come. I especially like to think about that when things are going better than I could have imaged. I stand there with my Champagne, laughing with my sisters, thinking, WOW! If the future is going to be better than this? I can’t wait!
A quick word about mental health before I go on. If you are experiencing serious mood swings or bought of depression, please ask for help. Because while I like the idea that the best is yet to come, I understand that everyday victories are won moment by moment. There is nothing more powerful than this moment right now.
You can at this moment chose to smile instead of frown, get out of bed instead of rolling over.
